3 Reasons Why Every Bathroom Should Have English Ivy

English Ivy (Hedera helix) is one of the most elegant plants for the bathroom. It’s cascading effect can make for a dramatic effect on your bathroom. From a hanging plant in your shower to a frame for your bathroom window or mirror, the English Ivy is well-known as a great bathroom plant. 1. Cleans Dirty Bathroom Air

As nasty as it is to think about , the fact is that there are all sorts of nastiness floating around in your bathroom air — even the dreaded feces particles. Eww. In a study, English Ivy was found to reduce the amount of feces and mold in the air. Dog feces and moldy bread where put into containers. After six hours the containers with English Ivy had 60% of the airborne mold and 58% of airborne feces were eliminated. After 12 hours 78% of mold and 94% of feces were removed from the air. This is why English Ivy needs to be in every bathroom.

2.Removes Moisture from the Air

English Ivy is really good at absorbing moisture through its leaves. Hang this fella right over your shower and it starts dehumidifying right away. It will also filter out a lot bad chemicals (per the NASA study we keep talking about). For example, it filters out toluene, xylene, formaldehyde, benzene, and trichloroethylene. So grab a cup of tea and pour yourself a bath while you soak under the Ivy. This is why every bathroom should have English Ivy.

3. It Thrives Even in Low Light

Just because you have the unfortunate luck of having a low-light, northern window in your bathroom doesn’t mean you cannot have plants. Windows that face north have notoriously low light, which makes it tougher to grow plants, but not impossible. English Ivy does well in lighting conditions ranging from bright, indirect light to low light. So even with a northern facing window, it does well.
